I currently have the chance to buy a '61 Sunbeam Alpine.
The details are:
- '61 Sunbeam Alpine Roadster
- Factory hardtop (Rare?)
- Repainted in '77 (Professionally) in
Buick Riviera Metallic Deep Red Acrylic.
- The car was in daily use until '79 when it blew the rod
while driving from New Jersey to CA.
- The engine is the original 1600cc pushrod 4. (with blown rod)
- The head was professionally redone about 2 years before
the rod blew.
- AM/FM (mono) radio
- Highback (Sunbeam) seats
- New convertible top (only used one season)
- new tonneau cover (still in the box and never used)
- new oil cooler
- new radials all around (but, 10 years of sitting)
- lots of extra wire and disk wheels (I think he has 10 wheels)
- Extra transmission, rear end, front end, factory shop manual, etc.
- Modifications:
Window squirters
suspension
grill (straight gold grill bars)
- Has extra '65 Alpine engine (1725cc) complete with everything.
- The 1600cc has Solex carbs and the 1725 has sidedraft strombergs
- The extra tranny is all synchro
- New clutch
- There's a bit of rust along the rocker panels
- New brakes on all four wheels (he feels that the wheel cylinders
may need to be cleaned out due to sitting for 10 years)
- New master cylinder.
So, the question is: What's the car worth? I know that it's impossible
to appraise a car over the net, but from his description, could the car
be worth a restore job?
What do these cars sell for in good shape? Is there anything that I
should check out on the car? Any problem areas to check?
Thanks in advance...
