For what it's worth, most desktop computers built in the past 10 years have
provisions for a second hard drive. The mount and cabling is all there. You
can buy a hard drive for under $100, install it and then back up all your
important files to it. Windows even has provisions to automatically create a
backup of selected files, you determine the frequency and time the backup runs.
It's cheap and easy insurance.
