A VW dealer should be able to look up that number and tell you exactly what
years and cars those belts were put in. A source for VW seat belts is Mid
America Motorworks.

I've been seat belt hunting. Per Greg Schroder they are a VW item. I
went to the junk yard and found a Karmann Ghia that had a belt that was
about 95% of a Bricklin belt. The retractor appeared identical, all the
holes and mounts are the same. Differences: Side panels on the
retractor are held on with hardware, Brick uses rivets. Connector
(buckle?) has a round hole, Brick is square. There is a VW logo stamped
a couple of places. The one I looked at was a little "doggy" and the
chrome wasn't what I wanted so I passed it by...junk yard price $12.50.

In checking my original Bricklin belt the end metal piece has a VW logo
stamped on it and the number 111-857-775A.

I'm willing to believe it's a VW item.

I checked a Ghia site, the belt is readily available for $89.95. I
didn't check to see if the belt is identical or one that looks right and
works right. Comes in black only.
