While I would still like to have someone email me a digital photograph of
their amc distributor and wires with the #1 wire identified on the cap, what
I need to verify is the orientation of the distributor and wires. My
distributor was not removed so there should not be a problem with it being
inserted incorrectly, but it will rotate about 90 degrees. I took
photographs, but, I had already removed the wires and the clamp bolt may
have been loosened and the distributor rotated. I have found three
different orientations. My Haynes AMC manual shows the distributor vacuum
advance bellows oriented at a 12:30 position when viewed from overhead and
in relation to the left cylinder bank and the #1 wire being located on the
cap just to the left of the bellows. My rotor does not line up this way
when at TDC!! It is two spots over (counter clockwise) which would put the
rotor pointing at the #1 cylinder (which is what the B shop manual says).
I found an AMC site that shows an alignment of the rotor which shows it at
about 3 oclock when viewed from the top at TDC. Which is corret??
Thanks in advance.
