I recently put out a request for speedometer repair information and
wisdom within our group, also did some net surfing. Came down to Palo
Alto and North Hollywood speedometer repair. Palo Alto was $200, N.
Hollywood was $120 if my bezel was reusable (I had removed it with a
screwdriver and cracked the glass) and $130 if a new bezel, I gave them
the job. Basic problem had been the needle spring which was in a
tangled mess when I got in there. I'll cut to the chase, I took the
speedo into the FedEx outlet in town on Mon. morning, it's back in my
hands today (Thurs.). New glass, new bezel, new needle (needle had a
little nick in it from hitting the peg with some force, I thought it
could be used over but they didn't) and needle spring, what they call an
overhaul, $130. Looks like new, of course. They were the first to
respond to my faxes, they did what they said they wood and more (new
needle), turnaround was awesome.

There's another outfit in L.A. that bid it at $150, but no obvious track
record.

Bottom line: fix, tax, shipping and COD came to $148.82
