Air Door Conversion is pretty simple with the kits available from Terry
Tanner (I did 1155 myself - George Malaska was kind enough to weld the tank
to the bumper for me). Start at http://www.team.net/archive/bricklin and
search for 'air;door;conversion'. This is the search page for this mailing
list - lot's of information available on the topic as you might guess.
Perry Ziff did one from scratch and here's an e-mail 'conversation' that
took place last year. You might want to touch base with Kevin Hand
http://www.californiabricklinowners.org/ and with the other person in this
thread to see what / if he actually did anything (mailto:ThibsmanS@aol.com).
I would also suggest going to http://www.team.net/archive/bricklin to search
for this topic, also. I believe it has been covered - although I don't
specifically remember anything.

Michael is correct I built a keyless entry system using the Dakota 9-channel
remote mentioned on the Bricklin mailing list thread about 18 months ago.
The thing to know about this project is that you first have to decide what
you actually want to control and how. That will determine the number and
type of channels you need in a remote system, and subsequently what type of
circuitry and wiring you will have to build on top of it. I had pretty
grand ambitions i.e., controlling each door independently, controlling both
doors simultaneously, controlling my electric air door compressor, and
controlling my alarm system. In order to get the doors to work the way I
wanted I ended up rewiring the door switch harness and configuring a relay
set up. This was so that the system would work off the same circuit as the
interior door switches (not the exterior switches which are on a different
circuit). This allows me to control the doors remotely even when the
outside door lock (with key) is locked.
I'm planning on writing an article complete with circuit diagrams as soon as
I get a few hours...several other people have asked me to do this as well.
Let me caution you that I probably spent about 10 hours figuring out how the
door circuits worked and then designing a relay circuit that could be
correctly interfaced with the remote setup. Installation was another 4
hours.
If you do talk with the owners whose systems you saw in San Diego, I would
be curious to know what there approach was and functionally how their
systems work.

I don't have any personal experience with the keyless entry systems. You
might want to chat with Kevin Hand and have him put you in touch with the
owners you saw in San Diego (I'm blind copying him so that he will contact
you). I'm also BC'ing Perry Ziff - if I remember correctly has a keyless
system, too.
