Guys it's time for an update on VIN 1628 concerning the door
problem and cooling system advice I requested a while back.
Thanks to all who provided insight.
My passenger door was not holding the open position and was
closing very slowly. With respect to the cooling advise, I was about
to upgrade the system given my desire to stop a slow fluid leak and
to keep it cool.
As suggested, I had a air leak. Found it on the out directed air tub
from one of the two silver canister (assume these are valves?) in
the control box - the one on the driver's side. Managed to stop the
leak with some adjustment with my magic fingers. I now
understand how to speed up my door but even with my offset
screw-driver it's not easy; I have decided to leave this for another
day.
My cooling system leak has been repair but it took three trips to the
shop to get it done right. Installed new water pump, several new
tubes and gaskets, a slow release thermostat, a flex-a-light 1300
series fan with 2 inch spacer, and had the radiator recored with the
4 core option. Although I have not had the opportunity to test in
extreme weather - she seems to be keeping her cool. Also
installed a new timing chain and gaskets while she was apart.
