that is correct about the price. As for digging out thick bondo on a hood..
that would pretty much be a wasted effort since whatever is underneath is
going to be pretty well toast (probably the reason for the bondo to start
with) and as for bring the front edges down to be flush with the hood
extension, you can put a set of hood hold down brackets in the outer corners
to "pull" the hood down. Overall just from what you have said here, your
best bet is to go with a new fiberglass hood.
