Again - my apologies for using this forum for non-Bricklin business.
However, I do believe the workstation that is producing the virus
e-mails is or has been in contact with this list and possibly other
Bricklin owners. (Rick @ High Tech Coatings appears to be getting these
e-mails with my address in the 'From:' field - I suspect others are too
- please drop me a fast e-mail if you are). Generally, for you or I to
be in this person's address book, they would have had to have sent us an
e-mail at some point - we who are receiving the virus have this contact
in common.
I continue to receive virus notifications and NDRs (as I bet some of you
are, too). I am continuing my attempts to locate and notify the owner of
this machine. At this point in time, I'm attempting to verify the
following information with Charter Communications (whose network is
hosting this machine), but here's the information I've gleaned so far -
does this sound like someone you know?? If so, please contact this
person (and me!).
IP address of machine starts with 24.207.158.xxx or 24.207.159.xxx
(although I don't know that this is the same machine I highly suspect
that it is)
The IP address range belongs to 'Charter Communications' (a cable /
Internet provider)
I highly suspect that this machine is located in the St. Louis (Town &
Country), MO area
The connection is probably some type of cable modem
The email address domain appears to be either earthlink.net or
charter.net
If someone knows who this might be or is on this list, I would
appreciate your contacting me as soon as possible. I'm being flooded
with Non-Delivery Receipts due to bad address (this machine is using my
e-mail address in the 'From' box, so I get the NDRs instead of the
machine that is actually producing the e-mails). Since I'm on a dial-up,
this is really a burden for me - I get a copy of the viruses that are
sent out in the return message.
