I have anti virus software and it is just an annoyance to get a mailbox
full of klez virus emails. The only people that propagate these are those
that don't have updated anti-virus software, I do mine daily. Weekly is
sufficient for most but monthly is too long as a new virus may get you
before your protected. The best defense is to turn off the preview pane and
not to open attachments that you don't know are coming. This isn't always
safe as I did catch one before while only updating monthly and opened an
attachment that I had asked for.
If we don't let people know that they have a virus they just keep sending
it on every time they go on line, I've received at least 30 virus laden
emails from that person over the last month, they probably don't even know
they have one! The first thing Klez does once it infects you is disable your
anti virus software. you can scan with Norton and not even find it. You must
first uninstall your anti virus and then clean your system with downloaded
tools like the one from Norton then reinstall the software.
If you don't want to pay the money for Norton or the likes there are plenty
of FREE anti virus software programs out there, one that seem good is AVG
