Ok, surprise, the suede is not suede, but just "suedette", a cheap, plastic
substitute, stylish only in the 70's. Acutally, considering the B's
tendency to leak, it is a better choice. It is restorable to a degree.
Just be careful around the buttons (for those with, some were made without)
and stitches. Probably some of the the most effective compounds are those
produced by 3M for marine use (not Marine, but marine). For restoration and
cleaning, Vinyl Cleaner and Restorer is great. Not too strong, and pretty
good results if you keep wiping with a clean rag and multiple applications
(you know, the rinse repeat thing and use clean white terry each time). For
protection, 303 is top notch, but caution with the suedette finish, don't
overdo it. Far better than Armorall and similar products, even Vinylex. Of
course, the best protection is using car seat covers, that have a soft
lining, and are padded. There are lots of products on the market, and I've
probably used the bulk of them, many with very disappointing results. These
marine products are very effective and can be found in many boat supply
outlets. Hope this helps.
