The good news about old number 46 is that it fired off for a few seconds
yesterday!!! I put just a bit of gas into the carb so it ran just briefly.
The gas tank was empty. I have previously removed the tank and cleaned it
out some and got some of the rust and trash out, put in newer sending unit,
hoses and fuel pump.
So after finding the motor will run, I added some gas to the tank-about 2
gal., and found that the rust had eaten tiny weep holes in the tank bottom.
An area about the size of a coffee can. So I suctioned the gas out. I would
like to patch the tank as a temporary fix until I finish evaluating this
project. My objective is to determine the engine/transmission condition
before spending a lot.
Anybody have suggestions on how to patch the tank? I have heard of epople
using fiberglass, but am unsure about this>
