People have done some really weird stuff to "repair" damage. Sometimes panels have been replaced with the wrong color acrylic and then the whole car painted to match. If you have different colors of acrylic under the paint, that may be the reason. Hoods and front fenders, doors, and roof are frequently replaced panels.
