Anything of Bassani's I have used has been of very high quality and
workmanship. This is however limited to stainless J and U bends and
collectors used to fabricate headers for another tough to fit vehicle. I
have not heard anything bad or good about their mufflers but from my
experience $200 is relatively cheep for a welded construction stainless
muffler. If you are looking for stainless I have found that 3xx series tends
to handle corrosion and the extremes of exhaust better than 4xx series
stainless but 4xx series polishes better. Being up in the Great White North
corrosion and salt decay is very important for year round vehicles and the
3xx series stainless system on my former Mini-van is still sound after over
300,000 miles and 15 years. As I remember from my last visit to the voter
challenged state of Florida, there is lots of salt in the ocean air and
spray that bows everywhere. There was more salt on my car from sitting in
the hotel parking lot when I left Florida than there was after driving
through a good snowstorm up here.
One installation note, most mufflers are killed by internal corrosion cased
by the acidic byproducts of combustion reacting with moisture build up. I
would make sure to drill a small drain hole in the bottom corners of any
muffler. This should be very important on a brick as it is very far back in
the system and probably doesn't see enough heat to keep the moisture
evaporated.
