I don't know if I'm being too anal or not. But, coming down the A pillar, of
the bird cage, there are 3 holes, about 3/16" dia. (I didn't measure them).
I believe they are there to pop rivit the A pillar skin to.
My question is how to mark the skin to know where to drill the holes so they
will align with the ones on the birdgage? I tried painting the holes with
nail polish and pressing the A pillar skin onto the birdcage. That really
didn't work. Maybe I just really have to build up the nail polish before
it will make contact with the skin. I think I'm on the right track with
this method. The only other thing I can think of is to drill the down through
the A piller so that I can then clamp the Skin to the A piller and come up
from the inside of the car with the drill.
Another question, I'm wondering what the fit gap is between the door and the
body. Especially around the top opening. I've been trying just to center
the door in this area, but I don't know if that is really possible. I haven't
been able to move the door aft enough to center it. I'm thinking about trying
to elongate the holes in the hinges a little more to get some more travel.
However, I don't remember how much clearence I have between the back side
of the hings and the roof opening for them.
TIA
John
