John,
The straightest route for the 3/4 in hose is over the top of the alternator.  
It goes directly to the 3/4 in pipe on the heater core.   On #1343 this hose 
sits on the U shaped end of a flat piece of metal (about 8 in long) that is 
connected to the front valve cover bolt (of the 3 side bolts).  The 5/8 in 
hose connects to a fitting that screws into the top of the intake manfold 
behind the thermostat housing.  There is a vacuum control valve that also 
screws into this fitting.  The heater control valve goes on the 5/8 hose.   I 
don't know of any support for this hose.   There is also a short L shaped 
hose that goes from the top fitting on the water pump to the front of the 
thermostat housing next to the top radiator hose.
