1758 has a refridgerant leak. I had my mechanic put in 1lb of refridgerant
and he says it leaked out the filter/dryer. He also said that in order to
replace the filter/dryer, it was necessary to pull the dash.

Stan Fransen of the Bricklin shop in Chino, CA said that the filter/dryer and
the a/c condensor were not available except through him since he found a shop
that custom makes the parts as exact replicas of the factory versions. He
also said that the flter/dryer is not behind the dash, and that R12 is
completely outlawed, since it has been replaced by R134. Now I'm confused.
Can anyone help me get a clear picture of what it takes to replace the
filter/dryer for the a/c and a cross reference for the part? It really gets
annoying driving 45 min. one way to school five days a week, then to church
(20 min), arriving soaked in sweat when you're trying to make a good
impression on the women, and all in this heat. I'd really like to get the
info I need to fix the A/C.

Also, my drivers side window crank is acting funny. when the window is rolled
all the way down, it sticks up about 1-2 inches. rolling the window up is
really wierd. as it rolls up, the window slides forward, and the back end of
the window goes higher than the front of the window. I basically have to roll
it up, slide it back, and repeat twice to get the window up, and even then,
its not right. I think I have a bolt missing, but even after looking I cannot
find the cause of the problem. I see that rolling the window up causes the
bottom slide for the lower pulley to raise in the rear more than in front. I
don't mind the way the window is now, as long as the $250 window (already
replaced once because of the door bracket breaking with the door up) is not
likely to break when I lower the door. So far, its been fine, but I'm not
sure it will stay that way.

Lastly, is there any way you guys can think of that would let me have someone
familiar with Bricklins fix up the cosmetics(restore the interior,
fiberglassing, sealer, and paint) with some sort of financing? There are
companies out there that provide specialty leasing. They will buy a kit car,
for example, direct from the manufacturer and lease it to the customer with
the option to buy. I was thinking about doing this with 1758, but I already
own it. can i sign over or sell the car to the leasing company so i can get
specialty leasing on it, and buy it back when the lease is up?

Frank(fdarl@concentric.net), when do you plan on picking up your car from
stan? I may be dropping 1758 off at his place for the A/C fix =) Are your
doors working yet?
