When I first bought #466, one of the interior panels had a couple of
stripped screws. I wanted to replace the panel and started thinking.
The natural conclusion to an auto-fanatic who has more ego than
knowledge was to build my own. I made a plaster of PAris cast of the
Fiberglas panel and worked on the mold for a couple days. I removed the
arm rest (in the mold) removed the window crank depression, removed the
depression for the inside latch (on air doors I assume the latch is only
for emergencies where it could be relocated to the very front of the
door in a small hood release form). I then dug out a depression for
what was going to be the JC Whitney power window module, and restyled
some of the panel lines.
The next day armed with fiberglassing material, built up a nice
fiberglass door. Well, I made two mistakes. I didn't properly keep the
fiberglass from adhering to the plaster (I used PAM because I was in a
hurry) and I also didn't mix the fiberlglass resin right. Needless to
say, 6 weeks later when the fiberglass didn't set, I gave up and pulled
the fiberglass matting out of the mold breaking the mold accidentally,
then got frustrated and destroyed the mold. If you have the patience
and either the time to experiiment or the know-how, it could easily be
done. I didn't have either
