In a message dated 98-03-03 10:56:56 EST, you write:

<< when I took the intake off, the two holes at the rear of the intake
were plugged and had the same amount of corrosion that the rest of the
intake had. This would indicate that from the factory it had the egr
valve with the vacuum hose yet was non-functional? >>
Deposits are very common. They need to be "Roto-Rootered" out or the EGR won't
recirculate the exhaust gasses. A properly calibrated (the factory's job) and
a properly funtioning EGR system will allow you to run more ignition timing as
the recirculated exhaust cools the intake charge. This more than offsets the
power loss due to exhaust contamination of the incoming air. Also the Air
Injection pump does a remarkable job of cleaning up the emmisions and uses
less than 5 horsepower-the alternator or A/C compressor use more! Anthony
P.S. How do you spell EGR anyway?
