Kim,

   I'd attach a string to the original wire before you pull it out.  That
way you can attach the new wire to the string and pull it back through.

Other maint.  You might want to put some white grease on the door latch
mech, and the window slides.  Also check for rust on the bottom of the 
door.  This would be a good time to try and clean it up and paint the 
bottom with something like POR-15 or at least Rust0lium or DeRustO.
