Congratulations on acquiring the Brick. Sounds like you have lots of plans to
fix it up. As for the panels if it hasnt been painted you should be able to
polish it up quite nicely.
Whether the Brick ever truly appreciates will be a wait and see type of
thing. However my own opinion is that if the car is really original then you
are better off to keep it that way, with the obvious exception of upgrades
like air doors or other basic improvement items that make the car more
civilized. If the car is thrashed then do whatever you want to it. good luck
