Hey gang,
Making progress on 887. However, I've hit a couple of stumbling blocks.
I'm looking for answers to the following questions:
1. Does anyone have a 75 disassembled enough to measure & draw a picture of
the xmission linkages. I know I have at least one that is broken, and
I'm not too sure of what is used and how. (Keep in mind that in
addition to the Brick, I've parted out about 4 other AMCs for spare
parts for the Brick. So I have some parts that don't actually go on
887.
2. Can some one draw a picture of or describe how the xmission oil cooler
lines go. I had to cut mine off at the radiator when I took it down.
I'm making new ones based on the old ones, however, I'm not sure I've
got things right.
a. The line that attaches to the rear port on the xmission makes a 180
turn then appears to runs down the pass. side of the car. Does
it go in the engine side or the fender well side of the motor
mounts?
b. The line that attaches to the middle of the xmission comes out
at 90 deg. to the xmission towards the pass. side then appears
to make a 180 and go under the xmission, a 90 deg bend and it
goes up the pass. side of the eng. Again inside or out of the
motor mt?
Do I have the correct layout? The parts manual infers that they both
go down the pass side of the eng.
3. Last question (for today), the alternator attaches to a sort of
triangular plate that is attached to the front of the pass. side head.
This plate has 4 holes in it.
a. The lower left hole is used to attach the mounting bracket to the
head and holds a hose bracket.
b. The hole to the far right is also used to attach the mounting
bracket to the head.
That leaves 2 holes - they are just to the left ( as you face the alt
from the front bumper) and slightly above the right most hole (b above).
c. The lower of these holes holds the alt. and a 1" spacer. This
becomes the pivot for the alt.
d. There is another hole just to the left and above "c" and I have a
bolt in there with a 2" spacer.
Does anyone know what attaches to this hole and spacer?
TIA
John
