Greetings all,
I am down to my last "cleanup" on my 79 Midget, and just about ready to
try waking it up from a 12 yr. hibernation. I was going to just get a new
radiator from Victoria British, however, the feedback I read on the MG
Enthousiast site reports products of wavering quality. Most suggest a
recore. My situation is this: My radiator wasn't drained prior to its
storage. When I pulled it, I drained out less than 1/2 a liter (maybe less)
of rusty fluid. There is also a gouged arc that looks like it's been filled
in with solder. The arc was due to the previous owner rear ending someone.
When the front end crunched in, the fan bolts appear to have made contact
with the radiator. It's not a full circle, perhaps just a 1/4 of an arc.
With this in mind, what would ya'll do? New or recore? If recore is still
the answer, I welcome any suggestions as to a radiator shop in Salt Lake (or
Tooele for that matter) that has some experience with our little british
cars. I contacted Mike Bailey about cleaning a fuel tank back in March and
he suggested State Radiator on State St. Has anyone out there had any
experience with anyone else?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Dow
