Hello autocrossers,

Mother Nature held off spring showers until the fun runs on Sunday. Yes,
there were fun runs at the end of a day with 5 runs for each participant. We
can thank Tam Luu and Navid Kahangi and all the chiefs for running a very
smooth event. Navid also designed the course with an unusual position for the
motor home, start, and finish. By placing the vehicle in the corner just past
the parking lot with the restrooms, the announcer could easily see cars coming
and going. This placed the registration in close proximity for the wireless
computer at registration to work free of glitches. To top it off, the course
was an interesting mix of fast and slow elements with the quickest cars in the
lower mid 40 sec range. Good job Navid.

Robin Yang achieved near total success with the computer system and all of
its challenges. A tube or hood over the scanner at start may be all that is
required to resolve the sun glare issues. He should be commended for all his
efforts throughout the initiation of this system.

April 16 is the next event and will again bring us to Marina for Easter.
Cathy and I will be co-chairing with the anticipation of setting up the course
on Saturday night. We may already have the important volunteer to drive the
motor home in on Saturday afternoon. Although this plan is not yet confirmed,
if you are interested in helping with setup on Saturday, please let me know.
Already, several have expressed interest in the whole idea. This would
certainly help in getting a prompt start on Sunday morning. I will be designing
the course emphasizing faster and more open elements and cone placement more
typical of a Tour event.

Warm weather and clear skies are predicted.

This will be the last club event before the National Tour at Atwater.
Sunday's event on that weekend will count as Round #7 in the SFR Championship
Series. Also, AAS will be putting on two events during the weekend on April 22
and 23 for those who wish further practice or car setup time. The Fresno
chapter will have an event next Sunday, and UFO will have an event on both days
of next weekend as well.

  Thanks,

  Tim
