Speaking of rain, Miata and drifting:

Photo of my Miata from Buttonwillow today. That's mud picked up from
all the drift kiddies spinning off the track and tracking mud all over
the place. Half the track from "On-Ramp" to "Club Corner" became like
a rallycross course (but much less predictable), there was so much mud
on there. With a bunch of wannabe-drifters who couldn't drive to save
their lives (or cars), no flaggers, and very little in the way of
rules, it seems almost miraculous that there wasn't any major damage
done to anybody's car. When it started to rain just before noon, it
got to the point where I would catch up to one of them, and didn't
have to bother waiting for a point-by to pass because I could count on
driving past them after they would spin out in the next turn--which
they almost invariably would.
