I have an opinion about this. I used to write stories
for "the Wheel" for years. It's something I took very
seriously, though I did try to be funny about it. But
I'd actually hang out at the event and watch different
classes, and actually interview people. It's how I
became the "Ace Reporter," for those of you who
remember that super hero, since retired. It's how I
flirted with boys, in my own geeky way. Witness, if
you will, the "Brian Hobaugh Interview," or the "Vic
Sias Interview". You think that was REALLY in the name
of quality journalism? I was 19 years old!

I look back on those days so fondly, and you were a
part of it. Featured Wheel Reporters were you, my mom
and dad, Peggy Hale, and Sandie Glorioso. That's why I
started, because sometimes my own name would be
mentioned, and it would feel so good. I wanted to
continue it, and make others feel just as good. And
then I'd receive positive feedback, and the cycle
would continue.

A little recognition from someone not even in the
class feels good. Competitors writing their own
stories seems kind of empty to me.

Well, that's my opinion, but again, I am the Ace
Reporter so I think you should listen to me.

Over and out,
Katie Kelly

P.S. Here is a photo of me at the Santa Rosa Corporate
Criterium last Saturday. For all of you frustrated
with autocrossing, let me just say you don't know
frustration 'til you're dropped in a criterium in the
second lap. I will not give up! Next time, I'm going
for three.
