I have a 92 1.6 miata with 209k miles. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to
check and or the root problem here.
I am having ignition issues that continue after changing the igniter, the
timing belt, spark plugs and also passing the smog test. compression is good
all around.
Above 1500 rpm the engine runs fine, power smooth no issues.
At idle 800 - 1000 rpm. there is a roughness to the idle. The timing light
indicates the timing is erratic but there are no engine codes form the
computer. My mechanic's computer timing device says that the ignition is off
70 degrees but this can not be real or the engine would not run at all.
We had to replace the battery in the car also. Is it possible that the prom
with the ignition program is somehow corrupt and this is why the ignition is
off at idle only.
thanks for your input .
