Into the mail today is the February 2004 issue of
North American Pylon.

Our cover story features an autocross in the snow organized by the
Connecticutt Race and Rally Team (CART). There were no Minis entered. <G>
Warren Elliott, Audi, set fast time.

Our lead story is, in fact, a guest column written by Jay Mitchell of Texas
who asks
"Do we have too many classes?" He points out with 1100 entries at National
the average class size is three (3).

Also on the front page is a news release about the new classes approved at
the SCCA convention: STS2, and STU. <Naturally all Lotus cars are banned
along with BMW M3 and M5 models. Other BMWs are akay, at least so far.
We're saving the Marque Bigotry article for another time.)

We present the Solo II World's top 100 drivers in Rocky Entriken's
Who's Who in Solo II. Gene Hanchett, Camaro, won seven CP titles in a row,
retired after 1982, but still manages to hold on to 92nd place in the
standings.

We cover other events:
-San Francisco Region's season opener at the Oakland Coliseum where
FTD was set by Vernon Head in a go-kart.
        -Hawaii Region's 2003 season closer.
-Pro Solo opener in Atlanta won overall by Alex Shchipkov from New
Albany, OH, in a BMW 2002. As there was a question on how his named is
spelled we'd deliver at least three versions. There was a problem with
timing, most notably on the left side which was triggered in a different
location than the right side. We print both sets of results, take your
pick.
Also we print the official SCCA apology which explains how it all
happened.

Columns:
-Guest column by Jay Mitchell begins on page 1.
-Pat Kelly discusses Pro Solo's timing problems.
-Lorenzo the Scribe compares Go-Kart parents to Little League
parents
-Abner Perney idles all the way from Kansas to Hawaii.
        -Eric Salem delves into NASCAR-think.
-We bring back Dwayne Komush with timely advice on car preparation.

The Garage Sale fills two taboid pages with autocross machinery for sale.

The calendar tells you where the action is.

You can still buy single copies at Tower Records/magazines across
the U.S. plus selected newsstands.
