No. Gel or Dry cells do not need to be in a box. I am rule book
challenged at the moment but I believe the battery is not suppose to be
in the passenger compartment. This may be a Street Prepared rule and not
a mandatory safety rule. Again, I'm going off of memory, and that is
scary, because I don't have the book at my finger tips.
