Anybody who decides to include a "Key West Box" in their course design
should take a look at the rule book that spells out course design minimums.
That's how the infamous "Chicago Box" was outlawed.
If a slalom is formed inside said box, and it doesn't meet the
minimum requirements, then it's not permitted.
I might add it's quite possible for said slalom to be unfun. The
rule is an attempt to keep events FUN, for everybody, not just some course
designer with a perverted mind.
Another example: when the late Larry Park invented the AAS series
it was because SFR events were not fun to drive for Corvette owners. It's
quite possible our Solo II leader of that era who drove a Honda CRX just
didn't "get it." Please, let's not discriminate against some specific
marque again.

"Seems like a fun obstacle...... Not sure how much fun it'd be to mark out
the base of the cones or how long it'd take to rebuild if someone wiped out
a whole bunch of cones.

Subject: the key west box
please register your hue and cry about using a "key west box" in a SFR
course.
it consists of a box with entrance and exit, and an obstacle in the center
(one or more cones). think of it as a one cone optional slalom.
