The National Office says that a letter of explanation i.e.: who has custody,
on file with the waiver is all that is needed.

Subject: Minor Waivers
To all participants who have children that drive in SCCA Solo2 events(be it
karts or cars):
There have been some changes regarding the procedures for the Minor waivers.
It is now a requirement that the waiver be signed by _BOTH_ parents. So if
you have a current waiver on file that has _not_ been signed by both
parents, it is not valid. It is understandable that this may be difficult to
do in some cases(e.g. a divorce situation - parents in different states
etc.). In those cases it would be adviseable to contact the National Office
and see if there are alternate procedures available.
The good news is that it only needs to be done once. By writing "all" in the
event date(s) field, and sending a copy to risk management(SCCA, P. O. Box
19400, Topeka, KS 66619-0400), it will be valid and in effect till the
children turn 18.
Information about the waivers and the form is available at:
http://www.scca.org/interactive/insurance/RallySoloRW.pdf
http://www.scca.org/interactive/insurance/minorreleaseform2.pdf
Print out the form on a color printer(or use the forms the region/chapter
already should have in stock). The form must be completed prior to the next
event in which the child will be driving. Make sure you make copies of the
completed form(1 for you, 1 for the region/chapter files and 1 for
National).
Contact Judy Cox or Pete Lyon at SCCA National if you have any questions and
please spread the word to any and all you know of that this pertains too.
Thanks,
