Don, i believe it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to prove that
your aftermarket part caused the problem. So in this case you do have a
chance in court.
There is no way a short shifter can brake anything in the transmission. It
is like saying that if you shift by pushing the lever bellow the shift knob
will cause a problem.
On the other hand, change the shifter back stock and take it to a different
dealer :)
