I recently had all four tires swapped side to side so that what
used to be the inner edges are now the outer edges. The tires
were removed a pair at a time, remounted on opposite-side wheels,
then balanced. It's exactly the same amount of work as mounting
and balancing new tires, and this guy charged less than $50. I
think it was $44 plus tax or something like that. The place was
Mark Morris Tires on El Camino in Sunnyvale, between Mathilda and
Mary. It's across the street from Blockbuster, if you know where
that is, and near the Toyota dealership.

I mentioned to the guy that I bought my Kumho Ecstas from The
Tire Rack and had them drop-shipped to one of their "preferred
installers" in Belmont/San Carlos (who charges about $75 for
mounting, balancing, new valve stems, and old-tire disposal).
He said to call him next time, and he'd try to get the same tires
at the same price. If he can do it and also save me $25 on
installation, it's definitely worth it. Hell, that's almost half
the cost of a new tire! :)
