I've had a datalogger in my car since mid-1999, and I've
logged every single run I've made in competition ever since.
An ongoing project of mine is to pull the peaks (peak G in
all 4 directions, peak boost, peak suspension travel, peak
shock speed, peak wheel speed, average wheel speed) off
every single run I ever made, and record them in a database.
It's a lot of work and slow going, so I don't have much
done, but for selected events the data is in there, and I
can look up specific events off the raw data files if
required. One day I'll get this completed, and graph peak
lateral G vs tire model and suspension configuration, and
we'll see what that looks like.... :)
But anyway, I happen to have data from Nationals 2004 at
hand. Peak speeds were between 106-110 km/h (65.87-68.35
MPH) and average speeds were 68-70 km/h (42.25-43.5 MPH)
2004 Toledo Pro was faster at 114 km/h peak and 74 km/h
average (71 and 46 MPH)
That's for an SM car with no shortage in power or grip.
