Twas the night before Nationals,
and all thru the Inn,
Every competitor dreamed,
of the trophy they'd win.
Those staying at the Marriot,
rested their heads,
on fluffy pillows that lay upon,
new and clean beds.
The Airport Value Inn folks,
wanted to trade,
when they found out their rooms,
weren't worth what they paid.
Dirty carpet, no towels,
a green only TV.
Look in the drain, it was
hair you would see.
Nightlife in Topeka was
restaurants and malls,
and of course the tastefully
decorated, "Baby Dolls".
I learned about about lap dances,
(I've led a sheltered life).
Or perhaps it's 'cuz I was away,
without my wife.
I spent Tuesday night playing
some good volleyball,
should have walked the course,
should have walked it all.
The courses were technical,
a mix of fast and slow,
I just couldn't figure out,
which way the course did go.
They said "it's your first trip"..
I said "won't bother me a bit".
but for some reason,
I still drove like sh*t.
I trophied anyway, but that wasn't
the real reason,
for doing it all again,
the following season.
It was the people I met,
who would help you on the spot.
A most friendly and encouraging,
competitive lot.
The awards dinner was bad,
the food, not the beer.
I vote for ordering Pizza,
if we do it next year.
