Since this has been blasted all over the internet I feel the need to
respond to JJ. Guy sold a used 350Z exhaust system to Janet Plemons in
Tracy, California, who seems afraid to use her real name. He explained
it was used and had been on the car we drove last year both at
autocrosses and on the street. Janet asked several questions about the
exhaust being both smog legal and SCCA legal. He assured her that this
was the case since in California the exhaust can be changed from the
rear of the catalytic converter to the rear of the car and that it was
SCCA legal for the purposes she discussed.
This past Saturday, Janet called Guy and told him she installed the
exhaust and loved it, not just liked it, but loved the sound and that it
wasn't too loud if she wasn't "on it".
Now suddenly Janet sends an email to Guy stating that she was contacting
the credit card agency to cancel the charge, sent messages to various
lists defaming Guy and Ankeny Racing Enterprises, and in addition, sends
emails to Guys employer stating that Guy was promoting his personal
business and selling non-legal Nissan parts at the Nissan dealership
where he works. Janet "assumed" this because he replied to her initial
inquiry from his work station computer at which time he told her he did
have the part and explained it was easier to discuss it with him
directly on the telephone. Guy does not have access to the autocross or
other lists at his work station. The inquiry from Janet had been
forwarded to him from someone else who knew he might be able to help her.
Guy has contacted Janet and told her that because she said she was going
to the credit card company herself he saw no reason to send her a refund
or cancel the credit card on his end and asked that she return the
exhaust. Apparently, she is refusing to return the part until he pays
her and now is instead bashing his name and the business he has worked
so hard to build.
Thank you and sorry for the need to take your time on this matter.
