>If you're looking for a solo II legal helmet
...
>Snell 2000 helmets are good for 2 more years.
Huh? This answer might be correct for some series, but not for Solo2.
Here is what was printed in the 2004 Solo2 book:
====
4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on
course: All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding
Snell Foundation standards (SA or M) are acceptable. For 2003 [sic] this
includes Snell 2000, Snell 1995, and Snell 1990.
====
The way I read this, if and when new 2005 Snell standards are published,
Solo2 will allow Snell 1995, 2000 and 2005 helmets. It's going to be a
long time (not just 2 years) before Snell 2000 hats go out of style for
Solo2. Or did you mean "at least 2 more years" for some reason I slept
through.
Our local (metropolitan Twin Cities) council keeps pace with NCCC and PCA,
so the dates are a bit tighter:
===
4.2 Safety helmets are required for all competitors. Helmets must be Snell
"M" or Snell "SA" approved, 1995 or newer.
===
The MAC tech inspector felt odd telling "The Famous" Roger Johnson that his
Solo2 helmet was not legal here.
