Wanted to share a brief story and mention some incredible people.
Several weeks ago, on day-one of the Pro Finale, Rod McGeorge broke
while on course as the header decided to become three pieces rather than
one. Later that Saturday afternoon Courtney Cormier (STX 172) and Terry
Baker (STS 119) dove into the car with elbows and tools flying, without
being asked, apparently knowing I am much better at breaking cars than
fixing them (adding windshield washer fluid pushes my limits). Once
they removed the header John Garcia (B-Mod 67) welded the unit back
together, making it look even better than it had originally. Kurt
Janish (CP 182) also helped with grinding, prep work and got the
finished product ready for installation. The sun was already setting at
this point. Courtney and Terry waited at the site, patiently, until the
header was ready for the install, again, without being asked. After
John and Kurt finished their magic (btw, John and Kurt refused pay after
repeated offerings) Terry and Courtney bolted everything back in place
with flashlights showing the way. All of those guys were simply amazing.
It's interesting how many of the competition memories can fade over
time, but what those guys did will NEVER be forgotten. Rod and I just
wanted to thank those guys again, publicly, for selflessly helping us
out when we were in dire straits. Thanks again, Terry, Courtney, John
and Kurt,...you guys are awesome.
