I'd pull the dust boot off the slave cylinder and see if it's wet inside,
sound like a leaking cylinder to me. The piston seals can stick to the
cylinder walls if left to sit, and then tear the first time you push in the
clutch allowing leakage. Often the boot will keep fluid from leaking to the
ground, masking the problem. Unless he is starting it with the tranny in
neutral, not a common habit for most people, he would have known about a
frozen disc the moment the starter engaged and the car lurched.
