Since there has been some questions as to what happened and several people
have posted privately as to what transpired, I thought I would post this,
which was posted on the New England Region list. My preference was to not
really get into the specifics of the incident, more to reduce the problems
of the S2000 owners (Mitch and Ann) and Tasha who I am sure are torn up
over this. If someone would pass along to them that they have our
collective thoughts with them, too.

>Before this gets too out of hand, there was _no-one_ in the car with Tasha.
>She was taking her second run in BSL. This was on Thursday on the North
>Course after the rain and the broad chalk lines were washed away. She got
>sideways in the 90* left hander after the CP Slalom just before the Drainage
>Grate Samba. Disoriented, she pushed on trying to find the course, drifting
>back across the first hard 90* left hander just as Ann was entering the same
>corner. Ann was looking to her left at corner exit as she entered the corner
>and never saw Tasha coming in from driver right. Everything happened so fast
>that the corner workers never had a chance to throw the red flag. Also,
>Tasha veered off just after the starter released Ann, so the starter could
>only stand helplessly and watch like the rest of us.
>
>Interestingly, a least 2 other people got lost in that same section of
>course earlier that same day. An E-Mod driver actually got lost enough that
>he drove nearly all the way back to the start the wrong way, then pulled off
>course near the start/staging area. another driver drove in circles around
>the drainage grates, going the wrong way no fewer then 3 times in a
>desperate attempt to figure out where the course went. I'm not placing blame
>on the course designer, just pointing out that Tasha wasn't the only one to
>get lost there.
>
>Hope that clears things up and gives the right story.
