I know I am a couple days late on this thread. I though about this a bit when
my wife was thinking of running my SM car in EML
The original example of a Neon running in A-Mod would be legal, even at
Nationals in my opinion, since a Neon could be legally entered in A-Mod. Like
has
been said, it could be prepped out, but does not have to be fully prepped. As
far as I can tell, the Neon does meet all the legal requirements for A-Mod.
C-Mod on the other hand requires many things on the car to be within a narrow
range specs. So this is not a good example.
The same could be said for E-Mod. A totally stock Neon or Subaru would be
completely legal there as well. So if your "race" car fails, even in the event,
you could run a stock class car that would be legal in the class.
