> What's hot?
Hot is vicious sun, shirt soaking, armpit rotting, what *IS* that smell,
I'd kill for some shade, over 3 gallons in and I haven't peed since
daybreak hot. I wasn't competing, so I didn't have to endure an entire
weekend of such heat. I was part of the Utah region crew that put in many
hours thursday setting up the course and patching the surface. We finished
up after midnight, and it was still 90+ degrees as we were cleaning up.
One benefit of that day for me was that since I wasn't entered, it would
be no advantage over anyone if I were to test run various parts of the
course at speed. That part was fun. The decreasing radius turnaround
on the east end was tricky.
As for results, I sort of remember a few things from today. The final
challange runs were between two red BMW products, both driven by fellows
with first names starting with 'M' - one the same as mine, one the same
as my brother. But Matt Braun in an M3 prevailed over Mark Chiles in a
new Mini.
Paul Brown only hit two cones the entire weekend in his MR2. The first was
his left side run during the final four, after he took a nice lead driving
the 'slower' right side course. His second cone came in the next round and
dropped him to 4th overall. Jim something ?? in a shifter kart took the
third overall spot of the top four.
There may be more results and discussion about the event as Utah region
drivers get back home and hit the keyboards, check the Forums link at
