Hey,
A friend just let me know that there were some comments made behind my back
at the Oscoda ProSolo a couple weeks ago about my use of radio communications
to a driver on course during the Challenge competition. The comments were made
to my friend by a person who had apparently read the 2003 Solo II Rules,
specifically 6.7, and was bothered by the fact that the "BMW Team" was using
radios illegally.
However, this person obviously had *NOT* read the 2003 ProSolo Supplementary
Regulations, specifically section II.H.7, which states, "Section 6.7 of the
SIIR's does not apply to ProSolo competition."
Although not as commonplace as during the commercial heyday of the ProSolo
Series back in the mid 90's, the use of radios during ProSolo competition has
always been allowed (at least since 1987 when I started running ProSolos).
By the way... if anyone sees me doing something they even *think* might be
illegal at an event, please say something to *me* about it! I'm a big boy and
no matter what you have to say to me, I've probably heard worse. <g> I won't
think "bad things" about you for saying something... quite the opposite. I
read the Solo II and ProSolo Rules and Supps (and the GCR) pretty carefully
every
year, but if I've missed something I'd want to know about it *before* it
becomes an issue. I promise to extend the same courtesy to you.
Thanks for the bandwidth.
