The following appeared in the Friday 6/6/03 edition of the USA Today.

Sports writer Chris Jenkins was sort of interviewing Ray Evernham on the
upcoming Pocono race this weekend.

Q. Whatever happened to the idea of a subsitute-driver rule?

A. Dale Earnhardt Jr. hid a head injury from his team last season and
championship contender Sterling Marlin was injured in a pair of accidents
causing some to wonder whether NASCAR should allow injured drivers to sit
out a few races without it counting against them in the standings. It didn't
happen. Still, the idea appeals to both Elliot and car owner Ray Evernham.

"If you look at the span of the last five years, look at how much faster
we're running," Evernham said, "We do wreck, and nine times out of 10 you
are hurt in some way. You've go to be at 110% to get in the race cars every
Sunday or you'r not competitive."

Q. What other options might Evernham have?

A. "Maybe we'll bring Michael Schumacher over", Eveernham says (jokingly, we
think unless he finds an extra $50 Million or so stuck between his couch
cushions.)

Q. Do you think Shumacher would like Pocono?

A. It might be a little low-rent for somebody who drives Ferraris and is
used to dodging supermodels in the Formula One garage area. But at the same
time, we'll bet his accomodations at last week's race in Monte Carlo didn't
have a swanky heart-shaped whirpool.

Hey! They don't have heart-shaped whirlpool tubs in Monte Carlo and they
think we Americans aren't civilized? What do they do for honeymoons?
