BTW, on the "delays" part -- Randy Chase summarized it on the other list, but
basically a huge turnout combined with weather like that and an early sunset
(not that we saw the sun) make for a tough day. Saturday went very well, no
big delays other than the one during the last group. We'll see if there's any
hope of catching up during a hopefully dry Sunday.

Well, all correct except for the "drying" part.
The first runs of the first group were totally dry, but dirty. It started
sprinkling during the 2nd runs of the first group. The first three groups all
had varying levels of "showers."
Between the 3rd and 4th groups, the showers turned into rain. And then for
the 2nd runs of the 4th group, the rains turned into a monsoon. So even
though the 4th group was all wet, the first runs were the only runs. It was
just too much wetter to improve for anybody.
At least this year, I had a car with a roof and windshield wipers. When it
rained like this in '95, I was in the Formula Ford ...
Some of us only had our good old Hoosiers ... and we decided to run those
instead of the street tires. I think that was the right move for the 1st runs
in the 4th group, but after that, streets would have been better. Didn't
matter much as it was all about the 1st runs anyway. The top drivers in any
class were the ones with proper rain rubber (something sticky with some
grooves of some kind -- full-tread Kumhos were the ones that drew the oohs and
aahs.)
So speaking of tire choice ... why does anyone think the Hoosier Dirt
Stocker (which, I believe, is the tire that is leading AS) is legal in stock?
It isn't made in enough sizes, at least based on what I see on Hoosier's web
site. It has to be made in at least 6 sizes in at least 4 diameters, and that
tire is made in 5 sizes of 5 diameters.
