Wow. Can't say enough about how fun this event was (and not just because of
the way it worked out!).
Having seen the format (and points system) work, I have to say that it is
not as difficult to figure out as it sounds (not hard at all really), and it
really rewards the fastest run in class from beginning to end. Therefore,
sandbagging or confusion is a big concern for absolutely no reason. This
is the best points/overall challenge type system I have seen yet.
Grid and run organization were fantastic. Usual 2 driver advantages are
minimized substantially (as far as possible). Basically, each driver has
their 2 runs within 1 to 3 minutes of each other, and then a pretty long
wait, 2 driver or no. Essentially real time active event results.
Runs per dollar are better than any other event I have been to. Friday
practice all you want, 6 runs for everyone basically, then up to 6 more for
the top 10.
Course was fantastic.
Atmosphere and enthusiasm were perfect, and even the bad weather could not
put a damper on it. Don't forget payout back to the top 25 on up.
I will travel for these events, you really can't have much more fun in the
sport.
Anyone who can make it out absolutely, positively should go.
