If you got Priebe and GH to co-drive and tune your car, then you need to
deduct their services from your cost. Their time isn't free for everyone
and although you provided a vehicle for them to race it's still a
marketable service you received without making a notation in your
ledger. The IRS would sure see it that way. Compensation by barter is
still an source of revenue. If you don't, then you must have enough money
to not worry about co-drivers not sharing costs. In which case, why even
discuss costs?
Oh, yes. The best I've done at Nationals is the top ten twice in FP, in a
car I bought at a bank auction for $50, stripped, put on big tires and
wheels (Diamond), bought Scott McQueen's old 12a that he won his first EM
National Championship with. I suppose I could spend the $500 for the only
muffler that works, but then it wouldn't be as much fun watching people
hold their ears when I go by. My db meter says I'm not as loud as John
Thomas's EP car, by the way. So much for db ratings.
