Nope I'm not the highly skilled driver in the family, my wife is, I'm the
pitcrew. Mike Ekert is the owner of the car Priebe drove at Topeka. Priebe
drove our car at Petersburg pro to 2nd place (the first time he had EVER
driven a FWD car!) and my wife won the ladies challenge there. GH Sharp
drove our car to a first at the Rome tour. I finished 36th in GS at Topeka.
We had put our new custom shocks (matched to the ones on Ekert's car) on the
weekend before we left for Topeka. My wife, Donna Frank, trophied in L1 at
the pro finale, finished 4th in the ladies challenge, and 3rd in GSL in the
championship. She had been selected by Sports Car to win GSL, and led the
first two rounds the first day but blew her third run by getting late due to
a lapse of concentration in the bent slalom on the north course, normally
her best feature. She put herself in a hole she couldn't quite climb out of
the second day, being beaten by Mary Medicus, and 6 time national champ
Katie Elder, a last minute entry in the Priebe/Ekert car. She was
disappointed that she beat herself, but it certainly wasn't a bad showing
for her (our) first nationals, on shocks she had never run in competition
before.
