Vern,
We use an old RV with all our timing and registration computers set up
in. To make sure our main computer stays up we have it plugged into an
inverter. The inverter is connected to one of the RV batteries. Because
our event week ends are always 2 days long we have a battery charger
dedicated to this one battery. Basically we have built an uninterrupted
power supply. The size of the inverter is determined by the amp draw of
the connected equipment. We use full size PC's so we don't have the
monitors or 3 registration PC's on this system as we don't need them to
run the event.
To sum up 110 volt ac from gen. converted to 12 volt dc to battery,
inverted to 110 volt ac equipment sees no voltage sags or spikes and if
gen. runs out of gas every thing stays on while tank is filled no info
lost no down time.
