sigh .....
The SEDiv bears the whole cost and guarantees the hosting region/club a
minimum hosting fee. If the event loses money, the hosting region/club still
receives their minimum hosting fee and the division takes the loss. If the
event is financially successful, the net event profit is being split 50/50
with the hosting region/club. I suppose that some people may think that the
effort which I, Karl Rickert, and Rick Cone put into staging each SEDiv event
and the overall series is of no value and not worthy of the division
receiving some amount of compensation. Fortunately, most members are not
that small-minded.
The GCAC group was very pleased with this arrangement at Ft Myers and I
suspect that both the Central Florida and Coastal Empire regions will be too
considering the turnout that is expected at those events. The Central
Florida Region has even offered to pay part of the Gainesville site rental
out of their own budget and Coastal Empire worked out special pricing for us
to use Roebling Road. This reflects the true camaraderie and dedication of
two SCCA regions and an independent club to support both their members and
the divisional series, as many others have done in the past and will continue
to do in the future.
The only intention for the SEDiv Solo2 Series to generate money beyond the
expenses of staging a quality event is to maintain the quality of the
$2,500/year Year-End Class Championship trophies and provide a buffer for
potential losses.
